MAD SUBVERSIVE is a project created by artist Jay Soule aka CHIPPEWAR from Chippewas of The Thames First Nation. His 15 paintings and skateboards, neon signs are vehicles for him to address indigenous issues both past and present through the lens of pop culture such as movie posters, advertising, science fiction. Drawing inspiration from pop culture icons and publications like Mad Magazine and Cracked Magazine, Jay uses popular culture to disarm you with the familiarity and then insert messages that can have you first laughing and then feeling the pain through the imagery.

The artist Riel Benn Sioux, from the community of Birdtail in Manitoba, whose people are originally from Minnesota, shows us all his creative freedom and takes us far away from the original arts, animist rites, and the Nature of Being.

He engages his art in the way of the great masters of cubism to also reconstruct the ideological foundations of art. He engages us towards the decolonization of our minds.

Une exposition mettra en lumière le travail du sculpteur ontarien Josy Thomas, membre de la nation Onondaga, qui fait partie de la Confédération iroquoienne des Six Nations. Intitulée ‘ Twisted Spirit ‘ (« Esprit tortueux »), cette exposition illustre les questionnements intimes de l’artiste relativement à son statut d’autochtone dans la société occidentale.

« Elle symbolise la façon dont je me sens parfois, précise M. Thomas. C’est si difficile d’avoir à suivre deux traces : la voie traditionnelle autochtone ainsi que la voie du monde occidental, en essayant de ne pas trébucher, d’un côté ou de l’autre. » Les œuvres de Josy Thomas seront présentées à la Maison amérindienne de Mont-Saint-Hilaire,

Women, My Sisters is a healing project that uses the traditional artistic practices of embroidery as a bridge to create solidarity among women who have experienced violence or who have lost a friend, sister, daughter, mother or grandmother.

Guided by Elder Kaennotas Sédalia Fazio and facilitator Melanie Morrisson, this collective transdisciplinary project combining art, culture and community healing breaks down the barriers of isolation and silence. Its objective is to raise awareness of the issues related to missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls and to create spaces for reflection, sharing and healing.

Violence against women concerns us all.
